Working with Hickey Media
What it's like to work with Hickey Media
Hickey Media is a marketing company for law firms and technology companies, run by Blake Hickey in Jupiter, Florida. When you work with us, you work directly with Blake, and every project starts with a 15-minute call.
Shopping for marketing help? Here's how it usually goes. Every project is different and plans can change as we learn, but this is the typical shape.
How a project starts
From first hello to kickoff
Send the details, or book 15 minutes
Email us what's going on, or grab a time on the calendar. Sometimes the email alone tells us whether we can help, which saves everyone time.
A 15-minute call with Blake
Short on purpose, out of respect for your time. That's usually enough to know whether we're the right fit, and if we're not, Blake will tell you and point you to someone who is.
Goals, budget and a written proposal
If it's a fit, we talk through goals and budget, then send a proposal with the work, the timeline and the cost, priced around what you need.
We go over it together
A quick Zoom to review the proposal. Tweak it, sign it, take time to think, or pass.
Kickoff, drafts and delivery
The work follows the proposal's deadlines, with updates along the way. You see drafts early, and nothing goes live until you approve it.
For most projects, that's only a couple of conversations between hello and kickoff.
Who we work with
Built for law firms and tech companies
Law firms
Most of our law firm work is with business and family law firms. Blake hosts The Florida Bar Business Law Section's CLE series on lawyer advertising compliance, so the rules are part of the plan from the first call.
Technology companies
Blake has been the marketing director at a managed IT and cybersecurity company since 2023. We know how to turn technical services into something buyers understand, and how to back up a sales team with presentations, events and follow-up emails.
How we work
One person to call
Blake handles strategy, paid ads, graphic design and video production. He'll mock up what your website needs and work with your web or IT team, or bring in the development partners he works with, including Josh Titus and Tyler Lukey. Bigger projects get designers, videographers, editors and copywriters we trust. You still have one person to call.
First calls often cover more than one thing. If you come in for a logo, we'll ask where it has to show up, so everything matches. You decide what's in scope, and anything extra sits on its own line in the proposal.
What helps us get started
- Access to your ad accounts, website and CRM, if you have them
- Your logo, brand files and past ads
- Who approves the work (one person is plenty)
- What's worked before and what hasn't
No ad account or web developer yet? That's fine. Setting it up becomes part of the plan.
Quick answers
What people ask first
Have you worked with firms like ours?
Mostly business and family law firms and technology companies, plus 500+ freelance projects across many industries since 2006. If your field is new to us, Blake will say so.
What does it cost?
It depends on what you need. You get a written price in the proposal before any work starts.
Can you work with our IT or web team?
Yes. That's how most projects run.
Reviews
What clients and colleagues say.
…Perhaps the most important aspect was that there is a real effort to transfer knowledge and the "why" behind what is being done. Information is treated as stuff you should know, not as trade secrets. Blake is a true pleasure to work with.
Blake built trust in his knowledge right away on our first phone call and we scheduled a Facebook Ads Manager consulting session 2 days later.
Blake has been great with google ads accounts. He has great in -depth knowledge only few would have.
Unpaid recommendations from Facebook and LinkedIn, quoted as written. Each is one person's experience, not a promise of your results. Read more from people Blake has worked with ›
