About Hickey Media

It started in a wakeboard shop on a Michigan lake.

Today Hickey Media plans the ads, shoots the video and builds the follow-up for technology companies and law firms. The lesson from that first shop still runs every account.

2006, Southwest Michigan

An ad only matters if someone walks in.

I grew up in South Bend, Indiana, and spent summers on the lakes in Southwest Michigan. My first marketing work was at The Boarder Line, a wakeboard shop, making the graphics and the ads. In a shop that size, an ad either brings people through the door or it doesn't. Twenty years later, The Boarder Line is a client.

What it means for you. We measure our work by what it brings in: calls, forms, demos and consultations.

Design school and surf retail.

I earned an Associate's in Graphic Design at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale (2009 to 2011) while working at BC Surf and Sport and Billabong, shooting product videos and making the marketing for the stores.

What it means for you. Your design, photos and video come from the same person who plans your ads, so it all sounds like one company.

2012, on set

Two years on Walmart commercial sets.

From 2012 to 2014, on a long-term contract with VIMBY, I worked as digital imaging technician, camera operator and editor on national Walmart commercials. In 2013 I contributed to the Effie Award-winning Walmart "Receipt Challenge" as digital imaging technician and secondary camera operator.1

What it means for you. Your video gets made the way a commercial set works: a plan, a shot list and an edit built around one message.

2019, Premium Digital

Learning what a lead really costs.

After marketing custom apparel at LogoUp, I ran marketing for Premium Digital, a smart home technology company, from 2019 to 2023. That work brought in more than 1,000 leads at an $8.50 average cost per lead.3 Across my past roles, I've directed more than $5M in ad spend.4

What it means for you. Ad spend gets tied to leads and cost per lead, so you can see what is working.

Today

Two things that shape our work.

Teaching lawyers about advertising rules

I host and produce The Florida Bar Business Law Section CLE series on lawyer advertising compliance, and I'm a member of the National Association of Advertising Compliance. Law firm ads and website pages are planned with the rules in mind from the first draft. I also help write and produce CLE and CPE presentations and decks for other presenters, and I've spoken to and mentored marketing agencies and companies. I'm not a lawyer, and I don't give legal advice.

I've been the patient, too

I had double jaw surgery myself. That's why our sister brand, Double Jaw Marketing, exists. It does new-patient marketing for dental, orthodontic and oral surgery practices.

How we work

One owner who answers for the work.

Hickey Media is a marketing agency in Jupiter, Florida, for technology companies and law firms. Founder Blake Hickey leads every account. If a larger program needs extra hands, trusted collaborators are named in your proposal.

You talk to the person doing the work

The person on your call is the one in the drafts and the report. Nothing gets lost in a handoff.

Ads, your website and creative from one person

Your ads, your website and your creative (single image ads, graphics, illustrations, infographics and video) say the same thing, because they are planned and made together.

We start where your buyer starts

The free Buyer Test shows what a buyer sees when they search, fill out your form and call.

Nothing goes live without you

You see drafts early. Human, then AI, then human: people set the plan, AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT speed up concepts and development, and a person checks every piece before it goes out.

What we believe

A few things we hold to.

Your buyer decides, not us

Every ad, page and call script starts with what your buyer sees, searches and asks. Not what looks good in a meeting.

Test small, then scale

Break the work into small pieces, test them and keep what works. It takes patience, a plan and honest numbers.

One accountable lead

Companies bring me in to hire and fire their agencies, so I know the runaround of “that's not my department.” Here, one person connects your ads, website, tracking and follow-up.

A business, run like a business

I run my business like a business and my family like a family: clear roles, clear next steps and accountability, for me and for every partner I bring in.

Fit

Who we work with, and who we don't.

A good fit

Owners, and people who think like owners. Growth-minded, efficient and doing it the right way. Law firms and technology companies that are ready to move and want one accountable lead.

Probably not a fit

If you want a shortcut around the platform rules, a one-off ad with no tracking, or someone to promise rankings, we're not the right partner. In the first 15 minutes I can usually tell if I can help, and I'll tell you straight.
